Harvest Point Printing Tips
There are several things that we have found helpful to configure your zebra printer to work with Harvest Point. The best way to configure your Zebra printer is to use the Printer Setup Utility available from Zebra’s web site, and it runs on Windows. This utility connects with your printer via a USB cable so there is little configuration needed for the utility to start working with your printer.
1. Make sure the printer is connected to the Windows machine via USB cable.
2. Click the Refresh Printer List button to see your connected printer.
3. Select the printer by clicking on its icon.
4. Click the Open Communication With Printer button.
5. Enter the below commands; you will know that they have been sent to the printer when the printer reboots.
Make Sure the Printer Is In ZPL Mode
Using the Zebra printer setup tool, you can run the following commands to configure the printer for ZPL mode. This is the mode used by Harvest Point to send print templates to the printer.
! U1 setvar "device.languages" "zpl" ! U1 do "device.reset" ""
Bluetooth Config
Using the Zebra printer setup tool, you can run the following commands to reset the bluetooth configuration on your printer:
! U1 setvar "bluetooth.enable" "on" ! U1 setvar "bluetooth.friendly_name" "520zenware" ! U1 setvar "bluetooth.discoverable" "on" ! U1 setvar "bluetooth.minimum_security_mode" "1" ! U1 setvar "bluetooth.bonding" "on" ! U1 setvar "bluetooth.enable_reconnect" "iOS_only" ! U1 setvar "bluetooth.le.controller_mode" "both" ! U1 setvar "bluetooth.le.minimum_security" "none" ! U1 do "device.reset" ""
After the device resets, you may need to forget the previous connection you set up in your iOS device, and re-pair with the printer via Bluetooth.
Factory Reset
Use this option if you just can’t seem to get things configured the way you want. Using the Zebra printer setup tool, you can run the following commands to reset the bluetooth configuration on your printer:
! U1 do "device.restore_defaults" "all"
… followed by…
! U1 do "device.reset" ""
After the printer restarts, you should have everything back to the way it was when you received your printer. At that point re-configure bluetooth and/or Wi-fi settings. You can use the Printer Setup Tool wizards or refer to the Bluetooth Config notes above.
Remove Battery and Power Cable
Sometimes your Zebra printer won’t seem to take your configuration changes. If this is the case, remove the battery and power cable for a full reset of the device. Once removed for 10 seconds, put the battery back in and plug in the device. When you power up, you may find that you applied changes will load properly.
Firmware Update
You may need to update your firmware. Make sure you carefully follow the instructions on the Zebra web site. For my ZQ520, the latest firmware version is V76.20.22Z
